Neusole Glassworks is pleased to announce the launching of their new community education program called CEAP. EAO is an acronym for Community Education Arts Program. Neusole has asked the Cincinnati Sentinel Plice Association to partner with them on this venture. The purpose behind the program is two-fold. We believe that young poeple, especially the young people in the at-risk neighborhoods such as Walnut Hills and Avondale, are lacking exposure to some of the more exclusive art mediums and by operating a program such as this, we can expose them to these arts and can also help them in some of the more difficult areas of education such as reading and writing. The second purpose in the development of this program is to provide a mentoring program with the Sentinels so that the young people develop a different type of relationship with the police officers.Police officers in at risk neighborhoods are not always seen in a favorable light and this program will provide the venue necessary for these children to see the officers as people just like them.

The pilot program will run for six weeks, five days per week for two and a half hours per day. Classes offered in this program will be glassblowing, flameworking, glass fusing, digital photography, hand building ceramics, painting, drawing and creative writing. In addition, the first half hour of every session will be a homework help session. The Sentinels will follow the young person's progress through school throughout this six week period and will offer homework help whenever it is needed. In addition, the entire focus of the program will be anti-drug, anti-gang and anti-violence.
