Glassblowing I – Gathers, Bubbles and Cups

This class is intended as an introduction to glassblowing – no experience is necessary. Class will cover shop safety, proper use of studio equipment, and the basic processes involved in blowing glass. Working in teams of 2 or 3, students will take turns both assisting and creating a series of glass projects. By the end of the course, students will have completed several skill building exercises and one or more drinking glasses. $245.00 Note: Weekend Intensive courses run 9-3 each day with 1/2 hour lunch.

Glassblowing II – Basic Vessel Course (prerequisite – Glassblowing I or instructor permission)

This course teaches a series of vessels including the cylinder, vase, long neck vase, and time permitting, bowls. Each vessel builds on skills learned in Glassblowing I and are designed to push your skills to their limit. Students are encouraged to repeat this course several times to attain thorough understanding of these vessels. $245.00 Note: Weekend Intensive courses run 9-3 each day with 1/2 hour lunch.

Glassblowing III – Introduction to Color (prerequisite - Glassblowing I, II or instructor permission)

The class that everyone wants first! The simple truth is “If you can’t do it in clear, don’t try it in color.” This class introduces students to several common ways of applying colored glass to your blown vessels. Topics will include basic glass chemistry, types of glass and compatibility, use of frits and powders, and use of solid color bars for blowing and overlays. Projects should be limited to vessels that students have previously mastered. $245.00 Note: Weekend Intensive courses run 9-3 each day with 1/2 hour lunch. Student must bring compatible frit & bar or purchase for an additional fee.

Glassblowing IV – Bits and additions ( prerequisite – Glassblowing I, II, III or instructor permission)

Students who have a good overall skill level in glassblowing will be shown a variety of techniques for “spicing up” their vessels. Lip wraps, feet, prunts, handles, spouts and just about anything that strikes the class’s fancy will be demonstrated. Students will then have the opportunity to practice those skills that most appeal to them. $245.00 Note: Weekend Intensive courses run 9-3 each day with 1/2 hour lunch. Color use is optional. Students must supply or purchase any color used.

Glassblowing V – Canework (prerequisite I, II, III or instructor permission)

This class is for students who are interested in learning both traditional and nontraditional approaches to using cane or filigree glass. Class will include pulling large amounts of both clear and colored cane. The glass rods will be picked up both on gathers and collars to produce striped glass vessels. Students who have mastered simple striped vessels may elect to attempt zanfirico (twisted canes). $245.00 Note: Weekend Intensive courses run 9-3 each day with 1/2 hour lunch. Students must supply or purchase any color used.

1 day workshops - No prerequisite. For those with little to no experience. More assistance than the weekend courses.

Ornaments – Blown glass spheres. Starting with clear, progressing to color and then optic molds. Make several to give as gifts or cherish yourself. $125.00. Note: Workshop runs 9-3 with 1/2 hour for lunch.

Paperweights – Solid glass weights created using speckles of frit, air bubbles, simple tools and fire. Several designs will be shown and all will be unique. $125.00 Note: Workshop runs 9-3 with 1/2 hour for lunch.

Hot Glass Survey – Create 3 great projects. Begin with solid sculpting a colorful flower, progress to blowing a unique ornament and finish with a small bud vase. Experience the intensity of hot glass! $125.00 Note: Workshop runs 9-3 with 1/2 hour for lunch.

Flameworking Courses

Beginning Flameworking

Students will learn the basics of flameworking through demos, discussions and hands on experience. You will begin to understand glass, tools, equipment and safety. Various techniques of shaping glass, flattening, cylinders, round, oval and others will be taught. 2 Evenings (3 hours per evening) $245.00

Advanced Bead/Jewelry Making

This class is for students who have a basic knowledge of mandrel beads and want to learn more extensive patterning and layering. Students will learn how to work colored Borosilicate and improve their temperature control. Students will also learn pendants out of heavy wall tubing in a variety of detailed patterns and how to melt down patterning and keep it tight. Students must either have completed the Beginning Flameworking class or show proficient knowledge of beads and tube working. 4 Days (3 hours per day) $400.00

Intermediate Class

Students learn basic flameworking techniques such as surface patterning, rakes, drags, wraps, dots, fuming silver, zanfirico application, and magnifiers with heavy walled tubing. Students will make a variety of hollow vessels such as jars, small vases, glass pens and more. Students need basic knowledge of the equipment and must be able to work small to medium sections of glass. 2 weeks (4 days per week, 3 hours per day) $500.00

Advanced Inside Out Patterning

In this class students will use their knowledge of inside out Borosilicate glass to create very detailed inside out patterns such as spirals, montages, axis' and other methods of creating inside out forming multi-sectional vessels. Students will also learn color mixing and shading, and inside out fuming using gold and silver. Students must complete the Beginner inside out class or have extensive knowledge of inside out glass and be able to control a larger section of Borosilicate glass. 2 weeks (4 days per week, 4 hours per day) $575.00

Private Lessons

These lessons are available for Beginner to advanced students. These lessons are to fine tune the students' abilities. Must consult teacher before starting these lessons to get a better idea of the student's skill level. $50.00 per hour with a 4 hour minimum. Torch rental is not included.

Glass Fusing Class

This class is a level one class and will include the following: brief history of the glass processes, basic equipment, types of glass and compatibility, glass cutting, making test pieces, discussion of additional equipment, fusing annealer design, molds and slumping, glass finishing and cold work, cutting and assembly of projects and jewelry techniques. This class includes projects. The price of this class includes the basic materials and the glass used. If you are interested in materials that we don't provide, you may purchase them separately. 4 weeks, 1 day per week, 3 hours per day. $225.00.
